What can I expect from Growtheatre Youth Theatre?
During the course of each year, youth theatre members learn a whole host of drama, design, performance and outdoor skills. We foster a supportive, encouraging and fun atmosphere, which allows members to develop their confidence both as individuals and performers. Youth theatre members come to understand the importance of collaboration and creativity and are given many opportunities to take ownership of the creative process.
At some point in the year we work with each group to devise a piece of vibrant theatre that is, more often than not, performed in an outdoor location. We try to be responsive to each group’s needs when choosing the best time to do this, for instance our Senior members have told us that they prefer to avoid the Summer Term when they have exams.
Where, when and who?
We are based at J.G. Graves Woodland Discovery Centre, Ecclesall Woods, Sheffield. Growtheatre Youth Theatre runs in term times and offers sessions on Tuesday and Thursday. We run 3 age groups for young people, please see below for details:
TUESDAY Junior Group (School Years 3, 4 and 5): 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm
TUESDAY Intermediate Group (School Years 6, 7 and 8): 6.05 pm – 7.35 pm
THURSDAY Junior Group (School Years 3, 4 and 5): 5.00 pm – 6.00 pm
THURSDAY Intermediate Group (School Years 6, 7 and 8): 6.05 pm – 7.35 pm
THURSDAY Senior Group (School Years 9, 10 and 11): 7.40 pm – 9.10 pm

Details of Youth Theatre fees are as follows:
Juniors: £7.00 per session & Intermediates & Seniors: £9.00 per session and there is a 25% discount for younger siblings. We ask that you pay termly and will send you an invoice at the beginning of each term.
It really matters to us that youth theatre is as open access as possible. As a result we offer some assisted and free places, please do talk to either Rachel Newman if you would like to know more.
